Just a couple of weeks back, outspoken Nigerian singer, Naira Marley sparked controversy across all social media platforms with his controversial standpoint on internet fraud and cyber crime known as ‘yahoo yahoo‘.

According to the fledgling artiste, internet fraudsters are contributing immensely to the economy of Nigeria.


Taking to social media, Marley shared a video where he portrayed himself as an activist for the infamous practice.bit.ly He lashed out at everyone who did not align with his perspective, artistes Simi and Rugged man.

The

The artiste equates it to justice of the slave trade during the colonial era.

"All the money, you are spending, all the money you guys are spending, it’s the government that is making it go round. you better sit down and pray for yahoo guys, if they (government) stop yahoo, the money will just go from Obasanjo to Tinubu to Mr Japa. You think I need Yahoo, I don’t need Yahoo, I make money from music.

He continued:

"I’m just telling, he who has ears let them hear, I’m only revealing things to you through this talk. All the money that is being circulated from the woman that sells pepper to the woman that sells palm oil and to the runs girls (prostitutes) and he spends on you for you to get a cab and buy stuff, where do you think that money is coming from?"

Naira Marley did not put a conclusion to his controversial statement.

To further buttress his point of view, he released a single titled ‘Am I yahoo boy?‘ that subtly glorified fraud.


He featured his industry best friend, Zlatan Ibile who is another staunch supporter of the Yahoo culture.
